The article is dedicated to the political evolution of one of the most influential and popular political parties in Catalonia – Republican Left of Catalonia (RLC). The article talks about the political ideology of RLC, the characteristic of the main stages of its history is given. The author focuses on the features of political activity of the RLC in the period when it was a “party of war” (Spanish Civil War, the era of dictatorship of Franco) and the time when the RLC transformed into a “party of struggle”, becoming the head of the civil movement for state independence of Catalonia.
