The article deals with the specifics of teaching writing to foreign students at an advanced level within the course "Analytical Reading and Written Speech." Mastering the skills of written speech, especially academic writing, is one of the most difficult tasks to be accomplished in the process of learning a foreign (Russian) language. Foreign students have to overcome not only language difficulties, but also cultural differences in the style of writing.
