At the contemporary level of economic development, logistics plays an important role in the development of firms. The chosen strategy of warehousing and inventory management in the supply chain affects the competitive advantages of the company in the competition for the consumer. The speed of response to demand is what makes leading companies stand out in industries. One of the modern management approaches used in logistics is cross-docking. Cross-docking is a management system in the supply chain in which goods from manufacturers are delivered to the warehouse, unloaded, grouped in accordance with the orders and immediately shipped for delivery. Thus, the product is not placed for long-term storage. The implementation of this approach changes the cost structure in the supply chain, in particular, reduces warehouse costs and increases transportation costs. The purpose is to consider one of the possible approaches to assessing changes in the cost structure of the logistics system when implementing cross-docking based on classical models of inventory management.
