The genesis of Fregean ideas concerning the ways of introducing the abstract object is inquired in the background of conceptions discussed in the school of Brentano. The principal attention is paid to analysis of common approaches to explicating the concepts of identity and equality in works of Frege and Meinong, published in the beginning of 1880-es.
