The number of homeless patients admitted to the inpatient wards of S.P. Botkin Hospital for Infectious Diseases grows from year to year, the percent of HIV cases among them tending to increase. An analysis of their case histories shows that about one tenth of these patients are HIV-infected. The age of most HIV-infected patients is 31-40 years among men and 21-30 among women, HIV prevalence among women being 2-2,5 time lower than among men. The results suggest the need for better social and health care control of homeless population
