New information on the young years of academician Vladimir Leontyevich Komarov is given. Some incon-sistencies between the official biography and real facts in the pre-revolutionary period of his life are shown. There is a clear evidence that Komarov’s participation in revolutionary activities during his student years was greatly exaggerated, and his biography was specially adjusted for career opportunities in post-revo-lutionary Russia. An indication that he was forced to leave for working in the Far East due to his lack of residence permit in St. Petersburg due to disloyalty does not correspond to reality. The document on the issue of the residence permit has been preserved in the archive. A number of other inaccuracies in the Komarov’s early biography are shown. At the same time, we in no way condemn the appearance of such myths, the author of which could be Komarov himself. In our opinion, these myths most likely saved his life after the revolution, dissociating him from unreliable high-born relatives and even allowed him to make a brilliant career in a new country.
