This article is devoted to analysis of the correlations between components of the older preschooler?s emotional competence (identification of emotions, empathy and expression) and its markers (self-assessment, anxiety and fears). Sample: 61 mother-child dyad: 30 boys and 31 girls; 5-year-olds (n=30) and 6-year-olds children (n=31) from Saint-Petersburg. The study with using psychodiagnostic methods revealed the average level of emotional identification, humanistic and egocentric types of empathy, high level of expression, high self-esteem and at the same time high anxiety, the average number of fears in children. Correlation analysis revealed differences in the structure of the relationships between components and markers of emotional competence due to factors of gender and age. More correlations were found in the sample of boys, correlations between cognitive component and emotional competence?s markers were revealed. The different nature of the relationships was revealed: in boys the humanistic type of empathy was associated with less fears, and in girls with higher anxiety. In the sample of 5-year-olds children a more formed emotional identification was correlated with a less pronounced fears, and emotional expression, on the contrary, was correlated with a more pronounced fears. In the sample of 6-year-olds we revealed more correlations and they had another character. The perception of expressive signs was positively correlated with fears, self-esteem - with the humanistic type of empathy. A similar trend with age 5 years - expression was positively correlated with anxiety.
