The relevance of the study: the present work is the result of the pilot sociological study on the motives of students ' participation in model UN in St. Petersburg state University. In this paper, the authors consider the goal of student participation in the model UN and their primary motives, which guided the course of their life. The purpose of this study is to establish explicit and latent motivational reasons for the participation of young people in UN models. The leading method to the study of this problem is the consideration of the relations of the participants of the student model to the activities of the UN, assesses the role of the UN and its place in the modern world. Research methods: two methods were chosen To study the goal: the method of online survey and the method of expert interviews. Practical significance: the materials of the article are of scientific value for the analysis and study of game processes and decision-making in the UN student models
