This study is aimed to show the role of urban toponymy in the study of cultural, historical and geographical names of the city. The article collected information on the origin of the names of streets, squares and other objects of the road infrastructure of Kronstadt, as well as an analysis and classification of the origin of city names by type. As a result of the collected data, the author compiled a table with the necessary information about 62 objects and a diagram showing the percentage of toponyms belonging to five different types: names associated with famous personalities, with geographical aspects, with abstract concepts and objects located or located in a certain area.
