The Crimean events of 2014 in particular, and the crisis in the Russian-Ukrainian relations in general, entailed a series of negative consequences, including the growing mistrust be-tween the states, as well as numerous sanctions which were imposed. In addition, this caused some serious changes in world politics. Apart from this, the important role in these relations is played by the EU, which affects the Ukrainian policy. It is confirmed by the fact that the leading European states are directly involved in all negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis, and it also provides economic, political and humanitarian support to Ukraine towards European integration. The approach taken by the author provides the opportunity to examine the European recommendations, reactions and steps on the current situation and necessary reforms in the areas of geopolitics and security in the context of the Ukrainian crisis. It is emphasized that EU members should be interested in reducing tension in Ukraine and realizin
