The article examines the reasons for conducting military operations of the European Union and reveals the difference between the officially declared goals and the hidden interests of the European Union and individual member countries outside the region during the participation in the settlement of conflicts. The implementation of this direction of the foreign policy of the European Union indicates its evolution into an increasingly significant actor, not only at the regional but also at the global level.
