The article deals with some aspects of the problem of the sacralisation of power in the context of the official document of the Russian Orthodox Church - «The Basis of the social concept of the Russian Orthodox Church». By addressing the issues of desecularization of politics and politicization of religion in modern Russia, the theoretical, methodological and historical prerequisites for the creation of this document are highlighted. The author dwells in detail directly on the text of this document and interprets those of its structural sections, which are devoted to the organization of state-confessional relations. It is noted that, having taken a step towards its own autonomy, distancing itself from the state while maintaining full loyalty to it, the Church published in its official document a new modernized version of the sacralisation of power, in which the crucial importance of the state and institutions of power is justified by the presence of sin in the world and the need to contain it. It is concluded that within the framework of the Social concept of the Russian Orthodox Church, the issue of interaction between the Church and the state received a rather original interpretation based on an eclectic combination of different ideas, principles and normative ideals, within which a modern model of indirect sacralisation of power is built.
