The article discusses ways to solve the problem of sustainable development of modern cities in line with the United Nations international human settlements program “UN-Habitat” and the 2030 “Sustainable Development Goals”. Stockholm’s national projects in the field of environmental protection, taking into account the use of advanced science-intensive technologies, are cited as an example of successful policies. The conclusion is made about the success of the policy and the improvement of living conditions of the population in the urban environment.
