The article considers the theoretical problems of the study of information retrieval activities carried out in scientific researches. The main theoretical problem of the current researches in this field is lacking interconnectivity. Thus, it imposes an urgent task to overcome and bridge the gap between them on the basis of common theoretical assumptions. The article outlines the plan aimed at uniting various approaches to the study of information retrieval activities in the research works. The authors propose to implement the plan on the basis of general theoretical construct that is shared by the researchers developing different approaches.
