The article deals with the concept of language personality. The materials of public speeches of the
British politician Nigel Farage and the French politician Marine Le Pen are presented and
analyzed, their speech portrait is made up, the features of word usage are considered and the
cognitive component of speech is revealed on the basis of the metaphors and the expressed
concepts used. The results of the study show that in the political speeches of these figures,
a manipulative strategy of discrediting the European Union is implemented, which is updated
through expressive-evaluative vocabulary, negative nomination of persons and the frequency
of using personal pronouns.
