The article presents a review of current ideas about the systematization, diagnosis, and prognostic value of negative symptoms in schizophrenia. The concepts of primary and secondary negative symptoms, deficit syndrome, predominant and persistent negative symptoms are considered. Data on the allocation of dementia negative symptoms and a differentiated assessment of their role for the social functioning of patients with schizophrenia are presented. A transdiagnostic model of negative symptoms based on scientific domain criteria (RDoc documentation) is described.
