This article examines the main characteristics of modern Internet communication, in particular, the linguotypological features of text messages on the Twitter platform. The researched material is the tweets of German politicians. The purpose of this analysis is to identify the prototypical core and a typical sample of tweet's text. It is obligatory for the analysis of the text type to establish its main parameters: the communicative situation, the functions of the text, the theme and structure of the text, the formal grammatical level.
