The article presents a classification of nouns in modern Chinese. Based on the analysis of lexical and grammatical features of the nouns and their distribution, limited by a certain set of measure words that occur with nouns, a linguistic-specific interpretation of singularity, plurality, discreteness and other quantitative meanings is revealed. In the Chinese language proper nouns are treated extremely broad.
