In the second decade of the XXI century Antarctica remains on the periphery of both the system of international relations and the study of global processes. Despite this, the significance of the region will obviously change, and Antarctica will become an object of geopolitical struggle not only of traditional Antarctic actors, but also of non-regional actors which are looking for ways to influence the processes associated with the continent. This article is devoted to the evolution of the place and role of Antarctica in the foreign policy of Latin American countries. Based on documents from foreign ministries, political parties’ programs and expert assessments, the author analyzes the activities of Latin American states on the continent, and the prospects for their cooperation with global actors.
