The article is devoted to the correlation between scientific and school grammar. Interpretation of distinction of the specified grammars at the beginning and in the second half of the 20th century is compared. The possibilities of elimination of the gap between scientific and school syntax are considered. The attention that reference books for school students are a perspective resource for inclusion of elements of the linguistic theory in school education is paid.
