In the paper an attempt is made to classify and describe gradient-vortical waves. The analysed data was taken from two sources: one was monitoring of currents by automated buoy stations made in the course of the "Megapoligon" experiment; the other was altimetric monitoring made by the "Topex/Poseidon" satellite. The respective phase speeds and wavelengths having been estimated, the conclusion is made that gradient-vortical ways play a significant role in the low-frequency variability of the North-Western region of the Pacific.
