The present paper is dedicated to life and creativity of Valentina Vladimirovna Shtokmar - a Soviet medieval scholar, who was a specialist in the history of England during late Medieval time and early Modern time. A detailed description of the main steps of her life and scholar career is submitted, a survey of her main papers and subjects of study are presented. The authors of present paper turned to many archival documents and memories of relatives, colleagues and students of Valentina Vladimirovna, that enabled them to assess more particularly and from the new point of view the role and contribution of Valentina Vladimirovna both for development of Medieval History Department at Saint-Petersburg State University and Soviet Medieval studies in whole.
