The article analyses the content of postcards depicting the St. Petersburg English Club, made from photographs by K.K. Bulla at the beginning of the twentieth century. Published postcards are almost the only visual evidence of club life since the building of the St. Petersburg English Club has not survived. The authors of the article, relying on the analysis of images in pre-Revolution postcards, tried to reconstruct not only the idea of the appearance of the St. Petersburg English Club, but also its inner atmosphere. They drew attention to several subtle details, which made it possible to judge the internal historical and psychological atmosphere in the English club. The article is an example of an attempt to reconstruct the spiritual life of a public organisation, which significantly influenced the forming of culture of the imperial capital of Russia.
