The article is devoted to topical issues and prospects for the development of the institution of a pretrial agreement on cooperation in the Russian Criminal Procedure. Positively assessing the very existence of this institution, the author focuses on the shortcomings that hamper its effective use. The author concludes that a change in the volume of the charge does not require the conclusion of a new cooperation agreement with the accused, since this is not the subject of the “deal”. The author also opposes the mandatory separation of the criminal case in relation to the accused who concluded the agreement in a separate proceeding.
