The article deals with some syntactic peculiarities of Dmitry Glukhovsky's novel “Text”. The following peculiarities which can be characterized as syntactic contrasts are described using the method of contextual analysis: 1) rejection of paragraph division and a significant number of short paragraphs; 2) an asyndetic sentence and a sentence with homogeneous parts against the background of a significant number of parcellated constructions; 3) a very long sentence and many short sentences; 4) fragments of syntagmatic prose in the novel which is an example of actualized prose; 5) narrative sentences that could be punctuated with question or exclamation marks. It was concluded that the author uses syntactic contrasts to reflect the inner state of the character, his thoughts and emotional responses to stressful situations.
