A number of areas of modern psychology are united by a common interest in the psychology of change, which requires an understanding of the problems of change and the very concept of change. Large-scale empirical research in the social sciences, dedicated to the formation of the modern type of personality, confirms the possibility of personal change through a collision with new experience. One of the modern trends in the study of human change is the problem of a possible person and the problem of the possible for a person. A person's willingness to change is influenced by his implicit concept of human variability. The study of implicit ideas of people about the possibilities of change showed that their everyday ideas limit life changes to changes in the objective circumstances of a person's life in the main areas of life, and people's changes are viewed as a forced reaction to these changes. Representations of everyday consciousness are in contradiction with the ideas of scientific psychology, which focuses on the activity of the person himself in the processes of change.
