The article is devoted to the study of the activities of Fernand Braudel and Claude Levi-Strauss. The authors analyze the key works of historians and highlight the characteristic features of their approach. Attention is paid to the«structuralist dispute» caused by the opposition of the theories of Braudel and Levi- Strauss.
