The article represents the history of creation and the stages of the functioning of the Palace of Culture named after S.M. Kirov and lays out the issues of museumification at the present stage. The current state of the monument is ascertained as emergency and the problem of defining the protection zone of the cultural heritage object in connection with the spot of modern buildings is specified. The option of partial museumification is argued in favor of. The space of the Palace of Culture in this case can serve as a place for articulation of urgent issues raised by local residents, thus involving them in the co-creation process. It is proposed to turn the exhibition space into a new place of attraction for the community.
