The paper concerns contemporary approaches to the study of intergenerational correlation of incomes. The main channels for the transfer of human capital from parents to children are formulated. The reasons causing a bias in estimates of the intergenerational correlation of earnings are studied. The ways of determining the causal effect of parents' incomes on the earnings of children are considered. Approaches to decomposition of intergenerational correlation of incomes are defined.
