The article analyses the process of post-Soviet transformation of urbanonymes of Grozny City as they relate to the constraction of the new Chechen identity and memory. At the center of attention — social practices on toponimic redistribution of urbanonymes of the capital of Chechnya. The main results of the redistribution are three: a) deconstruction and oblivion of Soviet identity (revolutionary, labor, ideological, especially atheistic); b) construction of a new Chechen symbols in urban space; c) the persistence of regional an Russian national components case symbols.
