We examine the causes and factors that influenced on the Second World War perception by German Catholics and Catholic clergy. German Catholics shared rather strong anti-communist and nationalist views, which led them to support Adolf Hitler, even in the matters of the war. Forced to constantly prove their patriotism, most of German Catholics did not refuse to serve in the Wehrmacht and participate in the war.
