The study was conducted on 35 NSTU students aged 17 to 22 years and is aimed at studying the features of communication and establishing contact among students with different levels of alexithymia. The results showed that with an increase in the severity of alexithymia, a person's emotional awareness decreases, negative emotions begin to dominate, the reluctance to approach people on an emotional basis increases, and there are more obstacles in establishing contacts. Significant differences in the structure of personality traits in people with alexithymic manifestations and people without alexithymic manifestations were found for factors emotional instability/stability (C) and adaptability/anxiety (F1).
