The article deals with the social relations of Synesius of Cyrene. Using his letters as a historical source and the analysis of social network as the method the author classifies the addressees and reveals the degree of their social proximity to Synesius. Having used the social anthropology method the author finds out how the social relations of Synesius functioned within the framework of such social strategies as patronage, leadership and friendship. The author concludes that Synesius used in the church environment the same social patterns as in the secular one. In addition, as a result of the study we can say that the degree of social influence of such representatives of the provincial curial world as Synesius was quite high.
