New media communications take people away from their background and history, commercial manufacturing and class struggle. Society turns into a giant installation. There, a wide variety of communities coexist and conflict in a playful and, at the same time, hyperreal form, following their own rules of the game. All this forces us to revise the basic concepts of social philosophy. Despite the increase in prosperity, alienation does not disappear. On the contrary, it gets new forms. Firstly, it is no longer labor, but consumption that becomes the engine of the economy, secondly, the nature of work has changed. The Internet is a means of work and entertainment. It is difficult to say if the time, spent in front of the screen of the computer at night, is working or free? And yet we should not rush to the statement that the era of capitalism has come to its end, smoothly turning into democratic socialism. On the contrary, the market has mastered the sphere it had never penetrated before. Consumption and entertainment are considered to be the main segment of the market today. It is obvious that people, using social networks, are involved in producing society, and continue forging their own “golden chains”.
