In the article the author makes an attempt to indicate some of the most important factors that determined some aspects of the situation of military chaplains in the Wehrmacht and their non-participation in the Resistance. Perceived by the Nazis as representatives of competing - Christian - ideology, divisional priests were under constant pressure from the regime and were forced to compromise with the authorities in order to preserve the institution of chaplaincy in the German army
