The article examines the concept of history as a narrative. The importance of taking into account the personal aspect in historical research is emphasized. The ideas of philosophers who support this approach are discussed and common features are identified: the importance of the form in which history is presented, the metaphorical nature of narratives, the reconstruction of the past through narration, the need to update narratives, and the typification of unique events within narratives that reveal the characteristic features of the history of a particular era. It is acknowledged that historical narratives are subjective and have a value component.
