The article describes, analyzes and classifies the means of expressing the prohibition in the statutes of Catherine II. Compared to the era of Peter the Great, a number of new means of expressing the prohibition arose in Catherine's statutes, and on the contrary, the means known in Peter's statutes and regulations became more active or lost their activity. The reasons for the occurred changes are analyzed, the sources of new means of expressing the prohibition are identified. It is concluded that the use of the means of expressing the prohibition was closely related to the activity of the models of expressing the obligation and permission, in relation to which the models of the prohibition turned out to be derivatives.
