Memoirs of Boris Engelgardt - the life story of a whole generation, filled with portraits of contemporaries and a detailed description of the main events. The author gradually worked through each story, starting with the sketches, consistently prescribing the characters of individuals, interesting meetings and details of important events. Starting his memories from the Corps of Pages, he gradually wrote the whole history of Russia at the beginning of the 20th century, from the coronation of the Nikolas II to the end of the Civil War and emigration. During his life the memoirs were published only once in 1939, but until the end of his days, Boris Engelgardt did not give up and hoped to publish them, making changes in his text. In 30 years he had four full versions of memoirs, which were transferred to different archives of Russia with large number of sketches.
