The article addresses the role of theology in the modern international research and educational realm in terms of its presence in the global university rankings such as QS World University Rankings and THE World University Rankings, the number of educational programs offered by the world’s leading universities and theology degrees awarded, as well as the positions of the journals publishing the results of research in the field of theology in the Scopus bibliometric database. The analysis of the data collected and generalized, during the preparation of the article, clearly demonstrates the importance of theology in modern secular higher education.
