The article considers the question of whether the use of the terms “pension provision” and “pension insurance” for the characteristics of operating in the Russian Federation pension system. The concepts of “pension provision” and “pension insurance” are specified, the participants of each of these systems are defined. The conclusion is made about the need for a more rigorous approach when using these concepts. At the same time, both the pension provision system and the pension insurance system are necessary elements for the successful functioning of the pension system of the Russian Federation.
