The article is devoted to the study of the structural elements of the Tibetan conflict, the historical dynamics of the conflict, Russia's role in the conflict and its position on the Tibetan issue. The relevance of the chosen topic is due to the fact that in the modern world, the leading trend of which is globalization, there is an acute issue of preserving the cultural identity of small nations. Tibetans, belonging to the Sino-Tibetan language family, make up about 0.07% (5.4 million people) of the total population of the Earth. The assimilation of Tibetan culture in view of the repressive policies of the PRC in this region can lead to irreparable consequences for all of humanity, not only as a loss of this ethno-national group and its culture, but also a special religious movement - Tibetan Buddhism.
