The article tells the story of the development of the Lagorio family in the Russian Empire. Various materials are involved in this study — archival sources, research papers, media research, ego documents. The basis of these genealogical searches was the preserved archive of the Luknitsky family, who are the successors of the Lagorio family. Thanks to a large layer of ego documents, it was possible to recover the names of many characters. Fortunately, the time of the appearance of the first Lagorio (Felix and Ivan) in Taurida was preserved in the documents of the Russian State Historical Archive. There are many famous names among the Lagorios, Italians but descendants of French subjects who adopted Russian citizenship in the beginning of the 19th century. Some of them are forgotten today, others are still alive in popular memory. The artist Lev Lagorio is perhaps the brightest and the most prominent of this family, and he also retained family surname. Another similarly significant representative of the family is the famous Leningrad writer P. N. Luknitsky, who was the keeper of the family archive for many years.
