In representation of the Russian thinkers of the 20th century Kiev was not only «mother of the cities of Russians», but also the symbol uniting various periods of the Russian history - Moscow`s and St. Petersburg`s. These beliefs were in many respects generated by the intellectual environment that was created in the second half of XIX - the beginning of the 20th centuries near the newspaper «Kiyevlyanin».
