The article deals with the interaction of aesthetic and ethical factors in the creation of an audiovisual work. The following problems are considered; violation of ethical norms in order to increase the emotional impact on the viewer; violation of the principle of "do no harm" in relation to the real people who starred in the screen work; deliberate misinformation and manipulation of the audience's consciousness; aesthetics and anti-aesthetics in modern documentaries as an author's concept.
