Nearly 2,000 stamps reflect the image and deeds of the famous Spanish navigator who
discovered the American continent - Christopher Columbus. It is well known that no lifetime portraits of Columbus existed or have not survived to this day. All of those known today were created after Columbus died, based on the memories of his associates, relatives and friends. This is made all the more surprising by the fact that in the total number of postage stamps, portraits of Columbus occupy almost a third of the total. Let us consider these images on the basis of the national characteristics of the countries that issued the postal miniatures.
