The study discusses the phenomenon of transmigration in the modern world. Having analyzed multiple works of Russian and international scientists, the author defines the term ‘transmigrant’ as an actor of migration with such characteristics as the high mobility, the inclusion in the economic, political, social and cultural environment in both host and home countries, the high level of education, and the availability of in-demand skills on the global labor market. The author assumes that the distinctive feature of transmigrants is their desire to achieve financial stability not only for being able to send money back to their home countries but also for using the financial factor for their future mobility. Furthermore, the research considers two types of transnational actors (transnational migrants and the so-called “global nomads”) and indicates the difference between them.
