The paper is a response to the article by N.I. Chuprikova 'The system of notions of general psychology and the functional system of psychological regulation of behavior and activity' (Vbprosy Psychologii. 2007. N 3), focusing on the classification of psychological processes suggested by N.I. Chuprikova. The author argues that no classification of notions can be successful without creating a psychological theory. The existing classification of psychological processes is too imperfect to be improved, therefore it cannot serve as a basis for a sound theory. The author supports the natural historical approach to studying the mind postulated by N.I. Chuprikova, but disagrees with both the conceptual system proposed and the basic systemic notion of the psychological as reflection of reality and regulator of behavior.
