The purpose of this article is to analyze the aesthetic foundations of the resistance to voice messages in messengers. The contribution of the work lies in its interdisciplinary examination of the phenomenon through the lenses of aesthetics, communication theory, and digital etiquette, which deepens the understanding of contemporary digital subjectivity. The theoretical framework is based on the concepts of “presence” (Gumbrecht) and “atmosphere” (Böhme, Griffero). The research material comprises contemporary messenger communication practices. As a result, key factors of rejection are identified: the loss of information control, the perception of voice as an expression of power, and the dependence on the recipient’s context and personality. Enhancing the visual presentation of a voice message can make it more appealing, reduce user anxiety, and restore the user’s role as a communication subject by implementing playback controls (rewind, speed adjustment, pause) and transcription. The author concludes that the resistance to voice messages is associated not only with practical inconveniences but also with a rejection of the forced aestheticization of communication and the invasion of personal space, although in informal communication, voice messages retain their value for conveying authenticity and emotions.
