abstract = "The choice of methodology in political science is the cornerstone, which makes the success of a research project. The book “Contemporary Political Science: Methodology” published in 2019 provides Russian political scientists with a vision of the current state of art, which is define as a combination of classical and contemporary intellectual political and theoretical paradigms. Based on the consistent description of the general scientific approaches, traditional and innovative methodologies of social sciences, transformed to the analysis of the policy sphere of methodologies, macro-theories and medium-level theories, the authors propose original analysis of the most complex problems in political relationship. Reflection of inadequacy of the orientation on one methodological strategy is combined with a scientific publication with a clear explanation of the potential and advantages of each of them. In some cases, the authors turn to ostensibly outdated methodological approaches and show how they work in solving specific research problems. The problem of the multiparadigm of contemporary researches, an adequacy of the combination of various methodological approaches within the same research project in combination with the correct choice of concepts remain quite acute for Russian political science. Contrary to popular perception concerning dominance of the American school in political science, the publication of the reviewed book demonstrates the contribution of the Russian authors to the development of political science methodology.",
