Yury Tynyanovs notable works “Block and Heine” (1921) and “Tiutchev and Heine” (1922) are discussed in the article in the context of the traditional comparative literature distinguishing of “genetic” and “typological” approach. The analysis concludes predominantly typological method for Tynianov as a comparatist, which, in turn, is associated with Alexander Mikhaylov's approach, demonstrated in his article, “Belinsky and Heine” (1990).
